I put this together mainly as a means to test out Windows 10 and to have something that can run software not supported by Windows 7. That was before I had System #6 or System #7.
So what has my experience been with Windows 10?
Eh, it's okay. Better than Windows 8.1 and Windows 11, not as good as Windows 7. It's alright.
I have managed to keep it from automatically downloading and installing updates, thankfully! That can be done by editing group policy, if you want info about that, ask.
Recently I'm mostly just running emulators on it, that are too demanding for my Phenom II machine. The CPU power difference isn't huge, but they're right on the threshold of "not quite good enough" and "barely making it."
More recently than that, I've also used it to run games that don't quite need more power than this PC, but just don't work on Windows 7. And some games that my kids like to play, to have a dedicated system for that.
I also received this machine FOR FREE from my other ex-coworker right around the same time as I received machine #2. Hell yeah!
Both of them having the exact same CPU is pretty funny to me. I guess it was a pretty popular choice back in the day.
