System #2 - Intel Core i5 750, Debian Linux

Specifications:

CPU: Intel Core i5 750 (4 cores, 4 threads)

Motherboard: I'll check it later. It's a prebuilt HP Pavilion Elite.

RAM: 8 GB of DDR3 (four 2 GB sticks)

GPU: AMD HD 5770 1 GB
It used to have a Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 with 896 MB VRAM, but the card was having some issues that caused the entire system to freeze, probably because the card is overheating or just straight up dying, so I had to swap it. After swapping, no issues that I'm aware of. Scratch that, it is still freezing randomly under heavy load. Not as much as before, but... I'll need to figure it out.

OS: Debian 12

Disk: Ahh... the Maxtor Diamondmax Plus 9, 80 GB HDD.
It's probably the best sounding, crunchiest old HDD I have. I'm proud of this one. See my article on why I love HDDs.
You think it's small? It has enough space and then some for all the data I need for this machine, which is mostly Debian and Firefox and couple of other programs. What a champ.

Other curiosities: It has a SD card reader supporting many different types which is super nice (and I use it sometimes for my microSD cards, which I use with my Android devices), some Firewire ports and a DVD-RW drive.
Do send me an e-mail if you have some ideas for practical use cases for Firewire ports. I've never used them myself.

Display (primary): Dell 1901FP

Display (secondary): Sharp Aquos LC-40LE600

Rest of the specs to be added at a later time.

What I use this machine for:

2023 was finally the year of the Linux desktop!!! ..for me.
I've known about Linux for a long time but due to my love for Windows 7, I've never seriously considered installing it.
But due to the issues I've described on the page for System #1, I am slowly migrating some of my systems to Linux and learning about using it, especially new system installs and those existing systems that I don't do gaming or music production on... Which is most of them, to be fair. Just a matter of time now. Win 7 and 8.1 are still usable as daily driver systems, if suboptimal for certain tasks, as long as you know what you're doing, and I do.
After doing some research on all the Linux variants I went with Debian, for many reasons actually that are described in detail in my article about it (article currently under rewriting).
I'm slowly migrating my web usage to this machine, especially anything that has to do with things that need to be secure (online banking for example) and wading through shady websites that I don't trust my security hole filled Win 7 machine to handle.

Backstory and history of the machine:

I received this machine FOR FREE from my ex-coworker. Thanks dude! Another man's trash is another man's treasure :)
