Why I prefer HDDs over SSDs

Let it be known, that I love hard disks.
So many out there prefer SSDs. And sure, they have many technical advantages.
They have faster access times, they're smaller, they don't make any noise, they don't break when you drop 'em etc.
Sure, I get it. But I have a personal preference, well several personal preferences in fact, that stand above all those very good points.
In the end though, it comes down to one simple thing = cost per gigabyte -ratio.
At least at the moment, traditional mechanical hard disk drives offer way more gigabytes for your buck.
As a data archivist/hoarder, and as someone who, by principle, wants all of my files to be accessible offline, and to be located physically on my own computer - that's all you need to say to me to convince me to be a mechanical hard drive lover.

As for the other points, I actually don't mind the slower speed. Sure they are slower to start, but when the programs are loaded, it's not that bad for most cases. I grew up with old computers so I'm used to it, it is nostalgic even.
There is a difference, but what I'm saying is, I don't mind it.
While I wait, I can stretch out. I can consciously breath in and out (which you, like, totally should do right now, btw). I can let my mind relax and wander a bit. I don't need to be in a hurry in life.

You know what, I have another confession.
I like the sound that hard drives make when they're seeking.
The older and louder the drive, the better.
It's relaxing to me. It's my ASMR.
Especially defragmentation, ah that's the perfect stuff! Defragment that drive all day baby...
